Cockerel Entertainment commenced in April 2015, and have since represented many major titles in the UK on Digital and DVD platforms plus TV.
Gordon Birchley of Cockerel Entertainment has worked in film distribution since 1987 including 13 years in Australia. For 10 of those years he was employed by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Promoted from Sales Executive to NSW State Manager and finally to National Account Manager for SPHE. He was responsible for National Sales targets and management of the national rebate scheme and sales team. Gordon was involved in numerous blockbusters from “Silence of the Lambs” to “Men in Black” and was also responsible for the record breaking sell in of both “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” & “Strictly Ballroom” which at the time both broke all Australian Home Entertainment sales. Sony always managed to have the highest market share in Australia while he was the National Account Manager.
Since his return to the UK in the year 2000, armed with a wealth of knowledge gained within the entertainment industry including defining the strategy of both sales & marketing to the individual title needs. He immediately was involved in the launch of Independent Film distributor Tribe UK and countless other independent ventures, until starting his own distribution business Cockerel Entertainment.
He has been involved in the released of over 400 feature films & documentaries on DVD & Digital Platforms including countless acquisitions and licensing ventures.
Cockerel Entertainment titles include A Cat Named Leonard, Being Charlie, Sharkskin, Chokeslam, Criticsized, Addiction: a 60's Love Story, Eaters, Chronically Metropolitan, Punching Henry, The Great and The Small & April Flowers and have all been selected by major UK digital channels plus selected UK DVD release.
